Quezon City, Philippines—The Land Transportation Office (DOTr-LTO) today nabbed twelve (12) alleged fixers operating in Barangay Pinyahan, in this City.

LTO Law Enforcement Service Acting Director Atty. Clarence V. Guinto announced this, as he presented the 12 suspects to the media.

“We have been receiving mounting reports, especially in Facebook and other social media platforms, of fixers in the vicinity of the Central Office,” he said.

“They approach LTO clients and act as if they belong to an LTO help desk, a part of the Agency,” he said.

He added that the LTO-PNP Team had already confiscated the tarpaulins of the fixers.

The 12 fixers will be facing charges for violations of different laws such as the Anti-Red Tape Law, Usurpation of Authority, and the Quezon City Anti-Fixing Ordinance, among others.

According to Guinto, the LTO planned the blitzkrieg operation in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Quezon City Police District Office (QCPD). Tactical interrogation will be conducted to identify their LTO contacts.

For his part, LTO Assistant Secretary Edgar C. Galvante said, “The LTO appreciates the cooperation extended by the PNP-QCPD to arrest these fixers.”

The LTO LES Director also advised clients not to deal with fixers.

“To our clients, please do not patronize these fixers posing as LTO employees. They will not facilitate the processing of your transaction. They will only give you trouble eventually. Transact at legitimate LTO counters only,” Guinto stressed.
